This year it's all about, “Back To Basics” and I'm not just pertaining to fashion, but how I live my life. At times I get so buried in what I’m doing professionally that I suck in other areas like checking on my parents, date nights with the boo, calling friends back, or even giving myself a break. There’s this misconception that entrepreneurs are never really working but in actuality its the complete opposite.

Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love what I do. For the first time in life, I feel fulfilled. I’m actually doing what I love successfully and seeds I’ve planted years ago are blossoming. I feel like the hard work is paying off and 2017 is bringing me to another level.

The common thread I’ve heard from those who’ve “made it” is appreciate those around you. Then there are those who say, “Relax and enjoy the ride.” The thing is when you’re in the process there is no guarantee. We’re looking for a lifeline to keep us afloat. I for one have sacrificed too much to feel like what I’ve done is enough. There’s so much riding on this one moment that I can’t allow myself to lose momentum. This one year of creating the foundation for the life I want hasn’t been easy, but the sacrifice is worth not clocking into a 9 to 5.

In a few days, I’ll be celebrating the anniversary of my layoff! Can you tell I'm excited? I’ve made it to the other side and with faith I’ll remain here. Granted I’ve seen better situations, but I have this sense of peace over me that everything is already taken care of. I may not know exactly how, but I’m confident its all good!

This outfit symbolizes where I am in my life. Currently in a stage of keeping things simple, clean and chic. An ensemble like this I would sport to an afternoon meeting or an easy “ME Day” touring local museums.
