For as long as I can remember acne has always been the bane of my existence. Looking back now coming out was definitely a breeze compared to my battle with acne.
Over the years I’ve spent a fortune on drug store products, skin care treatments, and even a visit to a dermatologist that went nowhere. Eventually, I grew tired of trying to find a solution and simply decided to put it all on the back burner.
Might I add I’ve also watched countless YouTube videos on the topic. One YouTuber I can fully relate to is Raven Elyse of RavenElyseTV.com who also suffered from acne. Watching her go through her own skin journey was therapeutic and refreshing. Before coming across her channel the experience was extremely isolating. Most of my friends haven’t dealt with acne and cannot relate.
At one point things had gotten so bad that I made it a mission to avoid all mirrors. Seeing yet another breakout became routine and I simply didn’t want to deal with the disappointment.
A few months ago I even went as far as deciding to go vegan for 28 days with two friends. Secretly I was only doing it in hopes of clearing my skin. Unfortunately, I didn't see any major differences afterward.
However, recently things have taken a turn for the better!
Back in 2015, I made a trip to Ulta and picked up a Clarisonic Mia 1 (Men’s Version). I heard positive things about the product here and there so I decided to give it a try. For the record, those devices are not cheap. After a few uses, I put it down and forgot about it. My impatience was honestly expecting instant results, but like most cases in life, great things take time.
Not until about a month ago did I decide to pull the unit out the box for another spin. Once I stayed consistent results began to appear. Now I’m finally in a place where I have little to no breakouts. Long gone are the moments of major ungodly breakouts.
The struggle isn’t over just yet though.
Anyone who's dealt with acne can attest to dealing with scarring afterward. Although I’m full of melanin scars are still an issue. At this point, my focus is heavily on clearing up all remaining scars. Thankfully, Shea Moisture recently released their new D.I. Y. Beauty Hack Line where customers are given the freedom to customize their own recipe.
Once this package came in the mail I couldn’t wait to indulge and get my hands dirty.
